The Legend of the Great Horse is an award-winning time-travel adventure for teens and adults. The story follows a young horse-lover:

Auburn-haired and with a streak of tomboy, Meagan Roberts was not an unusual girl of twelve—except for the lucky fact that her family kept horses. (Actually, they only kept one horse, an aged mare, but very soon it would be two.)

The trilogy opens as a golden palomino foal, Promise, is born to Meagan’s beloved childhood mount in tragic circumstances… (Chapter 1 – free online).

Meagan is told a mysterious legend about her new foal by an eccentric woman named Mrs. Bridgestone. The legend tells of the Creator’s gift to mankind of the Horse:

Since that time, the Angel has lived an unbroken line of lives, inspiring and teaching, even as the Angel’s children have carried Mankind to mastery of the earth … Upon each death the Angel takes another form and again a Great Horse is born.
The legend suggests 3 Rules to identify a Great Horse:
1) a Great Horse is born at dawn.
2) No one can ride a Great Horse without the owner’s permission
3) Only the owners of a Great Horse will believe the legend.

There is a fly in the hoof dressing, however, for Promise must never be ridden … or else …

Eclipsed by shadow, the golden spark
Shall wing her rider into the dark…
